“To love. To be loved. To never forget your own insignificance. To never get used to the unspeakable violence and the vulgar disparity of life around you. To seek joy in the saddest places. To pursue beauty to its lair. To never simplify what is complicated or complicate what is simple. To respect strength, never power. Above all, to watch. To try and understand. To never look away. And never, never, to forget.”
— Arundhati Roy
I think I’m late coming to this creepy party. I was in the book section at Target the other day, where I saw Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, crediting Jane Austen and Seth Grahame-Smith as coauthors. The book features the original text of Jane Austen’s beloved novel with all-new scenes of bone-crunching zombie action.
Quirk Books plans future mashups using public domain book titles, including Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters, which arrives this September.
According to Covers, the Sea Monsters cover illustration is by Lars Leetaru.
I’ve been reading Pride and Prejudice and Zombies for a little while now. I’m very very amused by it.
You know what I hate?
When I’m in bed crocheting or writing and I put my pencil or needle down in a very visible, easily accesible spot and then look away for a minute and then when I go back to get the needle or pencil, it’s GONE. Then I have to tear apart my whole bed only to discover that it was essentially right where I left it only the sheet had fallen over it and I just kept looking everywhere but where it actually was.
Happens to me constantly…
"When I jab the sharpened object in, choirs of angels seem to sing hymns of hate and memorandum."
“And dreams came around you in a hazy rain
You opened your mouth wide to feel them fall “
